There are currently 18 monoclonal antibodies which have been licensed for therapeutic use and this therapeutic category is expanding rapidly. The majority of these antibodies have been produced by recombinant DNA technology such as the phage display system but there are three which are produced by the more old-fashioned murine antibody technology produced in hybridomas.
