Cambridge Antibody Technology (CAT) has developed combinatorial phage antibody libraries. Antibodies are a key tool for investigating the activities of proteins. CAT bioinformatics analyses gene sequences, and identifies those, which make a protein of potential interest. A small portion of each protein is made synthetically (the peptide). An antibody that binds the peptide is isolated. The antibody is then used to probe for protein expression in human tissues. [Pg.207]
