Easley et al. showed integrated DNA purification, PCR, electrophoretic separation and detection of pathogens in less than 30 min [116]. For Lots A and C the acellular pertussis components are purified from B. pertussis by salt precipitation, ultracentrifugation, and ultrafiltration. After purification, fractions containing PT and FHA are combined to obtain a 1 1 ratio and are treated with formaldehyde to inactivate PT.
