The 100 Most Important Chemical Compounds focuses on 100 compounds, but references several hundred compounds. The second solution is to publish the paper under the name of the team that conducted the trial, rather than the personal names of the participants. The acknowledgments can then list all those who took part (e.g. The Subcutaneous Sumatriptan International Study Group, 1991).
