When translated, the Greek word diagnosis means decision , differentiation or assessment . A disease is identified by the information gained from the patients themselves (= auto-anam-nesis) or their personal environment (= external anamnesis) as well as from diverse examination results (= findings). 

Rehabilitation is designed to reintegrate people with physical or mental impairment into both their professional and personal environment. It comprises aftercare with a social component in the sense that society is called upon to help, and thus it is a communal undertaking. Rehabilitative measures should start as early as possible during the curative phase. Once the disease has consolidated and as soon as the prognosis offers a realistic perspective, the physician should address the question of rehabilitation. In this subsection we argue that new integration functionality transforms existing tools to personalized environments which facilitate cooperation. Such cooperative personalized environments are then integrated to build up an integrated environment for the cooperative design team. The integrated environment is based on an open framework and makes use of advanced reuse techniques. 

An essential part of an integrated environment to support the whole chemical design process are the personal environments for specific subprocesses of the overall process. The informatics concepts can now be used to prepare available tools/environments for this cooperative overall process. This is done by introducing interfaces for new cooperative functionality and by adding this new cooperation functionality.
