Permits building

The submergence materials show the variation of the collapse depth of spherical hulls with the weight displacement of these materials. All these materials initially would permit building the hull of a rescue vehicle operating at 1,800 m (6,000 ft.) with a collapse depth of 2,700 m (9,000 ft.). [Pg.112]

The 1980s saw the removal of large quantities of asbestos (qv) from buildings, creating the need for clothing which could not be penetrated by small asbestos fibrils, yet was iaexpensive enough to permit daily disposal. Certain spunbonded and spunbond/meltblown laminate fabrics demonstrate excellent resistance to asbestos penetration from particles as small as 0.5 p.m (70). [Pg.174]

When considering taxes, all types need to be considered initial fees, capital value, corporate rate, personal income tax, sales tax, property tax, unemployment insurance, workmen s compensation, and nuisance tax. During the constmction phase, several types of taxes may be levied. These include building permits, special fees, assessments, and sewer connection fees. [Pg.88]

Building code requirements for fire performance are mainly concerned with noncombustibiUty (41), fire endurance (42,43), and surface burning characteristics (44). Wood, even in its treated form, does not meet the building code requirements for a noncombustible material. However, for some specific apphcations where noncombustible materials are required, the codes permit the substitution of fire retardant treated wood. [Pg.329]

Although the varied uses for which DIR couplers are employed call for precise control over where the inhibitor diffuses, the very complexation mechanism by which inhibitors work would seem to preclude such control. The desired ability to target the inhibitor can be attained by the use of delayed release DIR couplers, which release not the inhibitor itself, but a diffusable inhibitor precursor or "switch" (Fig. 16) (98). Substituents (X, R) and stmctural design of the precursor permit control over both diffusivity and the rate of inhibitor release. Increasing the effective diffusivity of the inhibitor, however, means that more of it can diffuse into the developer solution where it can affect film in an undesirable, nonimagewise fashion. This can be minimized by the use of self-destmcting inhibitors that are slowly destroyed by developer components and do not build up or "season" the process (99). [Pg.479]

Electronic Connectors. The complexity and size of many electronic systems necessitate constmction from relatively small building blocks which ate then assembled with connectors. An electronic connector is a separable electrical connector used in telecommunications apparatus, computers, and in signal transmission and current transmission <5 A. Separable connectors ate favored over permanent or hard-wired connections because the former facilitate the manufacture of electronic systems also, connectors permit assemblies to be easily demounted and reconnected when inspection, replacement, or addition of new parts is called for. [Pg.23]

Lift trucks are available to meet a variety of clearance restrictions. Noteworthy is narrow-aisle equipment. Another accessory worthy of consideration is the multilift mast, which permits lifting loads over 3.7 m (12 ft). Of special importance in specifying any mast is that it will clear the various door openings it must enter, which includes those of trucks, railcars, and buildings. To meet most conditions, the collapsed height of the mast must be 2235 mm (88 in). An ideal lift truck for chemical-plant distribution warehouses would have 2000-kg (4000-lb) capacity electric (battery) propulsion solid-state controls ... [Pg.1975]

Equation (12-17) is called the photostationary state expression for ozone. Upon examination, one sees that the concentration of ozone is dependent on the ratio NO2/NO for any value of k. The maximum value of k is dependent on the latitude, time of year, and time of day. In the United States, the range of k is from 0 to 0.55 min T Table 12-5 illustrates the importance of the NO2/NO ratio with respect to how much ozone is required for the photostationary state to exist. The conclusion to be drawn from this table is that most of the NO must be converted to NO2 before O3 will build up in the atmosphere. This is also seen in the diurnal ambient air patterns shown in Fig. 12-2 and the smog chamber simulations shown in Fig. 12-3. It is apparent that without hydrocarbons, the NO is not converted to NO2 efficiently enough to permit the buildup of O3 to levels observed in urban areas. [Pg.173]

In some reactions, the situation kj > 2 exists. Under these conditions, the eoncentration of the intermediate will build up as it goes on more slowly to product. The possibility of isolating, or at least observing, the intermediate then exists. If both kj and k2 are large, the reaction may proceed too rapidly to permit isolation of the intermediate but spectroscopic studies, for example, should reveal the existence of two distinct phases for the overall reaction. It should be possible to analyze such a system and determine the two rate constants. [Pg.226]
