Performance Capabilities and Uses of Alkaline Batteries

Cold-start at -40°C is of critical importance, particularly in battlefield conditions and remote military locations where satellite communication links have to be established under emergency conditions. 

Performance studies performed by the author indicate that battery terminal voltage will decrease slightly as the discharge time increases. The variation of terminal voltage as function of discharge duration for the 300 W, 12 V, 12 h alkaline Al-air battery output is shown in Table 6.1.
