Patents animal feed applications

Ingredia, a French dairy company, has developed Prodiet F 200 , a milk protein hydrolysate that contains a bioactive peptide with relaxing properties. The patented product has an anti-stress effect proven by several clinical studies and does not cause the classical side effects of anxiolytics. Food supplements, chocolate and animal feed are examples of its applications (Lefranc, 2002). 

A related process, Broin Fractionation (BFRAC), announced in 2005, first separates corn into three fractions—fiber, germ, and endosperm. The endosperm is fermented to produce ethanol and the other fractions are converted to animal feed. U.S. Patent Application 20110111085. 

Urea has found acceptance as a protein substitute for ruminant animals (cattle, goats, and sheep). In this application, it can efficiently replace about one-third of the natural protein in ruminant feeds, but care in formulating must be exercised to optimize the concentration.
