Palladium plating

In sliding electrical contact applications, palladium plating has been criticised on the basis of a tendency due to its catalytic activity to cause polymerisation of organic vapours from adjacent equipment with the formation of insulating films on the surface. This effect is important in certain circumstances, but is not serious in many practical applications... [Pg.562]

In the case of a copper/palladium junction, electrons are withdrawn from the copper plate which becomes positively charged. They are then deposited in the palladium plate which becomes negative. A galvanometer and a battery are also placed in series to complete the circuit. It can be shown that the field inside the gap depends only on the materials forming the capacitor and not on material(s) connecting the two plates. [Pg.174]

The emphasis of most research in this area has been on the use of iron [87-93], or a modified iron, such as palladium-plated iron granules [90]. Alternatively, relatively fast reaction rates have been obtained when using very fine divided Zn or Sn particles in an inert atmosphere [94],... [Pg.43]
