Palladium-catalyzed intermolecular coupling reactions

Scheme 3-32 Heterocyclization cascades triggered by palladium-catalyzed intermolecular coupling reactions [184]. Scheme 3-32 Heterocyclization cascades triggered by palladium-catalyzed intermolecular coupling reactions [184].
Li and Yue also reported the intermolecular palladium catalyzed cross coupling reactions of bromo quinoxalines 214 and 216 with aryl boronic acids and heterocyclic stannanes, respectively <99TL4507>. The Suzuki couplings (i.e., 214 215) required the use of a... [Pg.290]

Palladium-catalyzed cyclization reactions with aryl halides have been used to synthesize pyrazole derivatives. V-Aryl-lV-(c>-bromobenzyl)hydrazines 26 participated in a palladium-catalyzed intramolecular amination reaction to give 2-aryl-2W-indazoles 27 . Palladium-catalyzed cascade intermolecular queuing-cyclocondensation reaction of o-iodophenol (28) with dimethylallene and aryl hydrazines provided pyrazolyl chromanones 29 <00TL7129>. A novel one-pot synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted-2-pyrazolines 32 has been achieved with an unexpected coupling-isomerization sequence of haloarene 30, propargyl alcohol 31, and methylhydrazine <00ACIE1253>. [Pg.169]

Miura and coworkers reported the first palladium catalyzed intermolecular carbonylative Heck reaction of aryl iodides and five membered olefins in the presence of carbon monoxide (Scheme 1.28) [99]. The expected 2,5-dihydrofuran product was not observed in the carbonylative coupling of 4-iodoanisole and 2,3-dihydrofuran as depicted in Scheme 1.28. Instead, isomerization of the double bond via reinsertion of the palladium(II) hydride followed by another ]S-hydride elimination formed the vinyl ether exclusively. [Pg.39]

Arylative or silylative cyclizations of allenyl aldehydes or ketones have been reported (Equations (101) and (102)).459,459a The intermolecular process, that is, three-component coupling reaction of aldehydes, allenes, and arylboronic acids, is catalyzed by palladium as well (Equation (103)).46O 46Oa These reactions are proposed to proceed through nucleophilic attack of the allylpalladium intermediates to the carbonyl groups. [Pg.466]

Trost and others have extensively studied the ruthenium-catalyzed intermolecular Alder-ene reaction (see Section 10.12.3) however, conditions developed for the intermolecular coupling of alkenes and alkynes failed to lead to intramolecular cycloisomerization due the sensitivity of the [CpRu(cod)Cl] catalyst system to substitution patterns on the alkene.51 Trost and Toste instead found success using cationic [CpRu(MeCN)3]PF6 41. In contrast to the analogous palladium conditions, this catalyst gives exclusively 1,4-diene cycloisomerization products. The absence of 1,3-dienes supports the suggestion that the ruthenium-catalyzed cycloisomerization of enynes proceeds through a ruthenacycle intermediate (Scheme 11). [Pg.572]

Palladium(0)-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl halides and alkenes (i.e., the Heck reaction) is widely used in organic chemistry. Oxidative Heck reactions can be achieved by forming the Pd -aryl intermediate via direct palladation of an arene C - H bond. Intramolecular reactions of this type were described in Sect. 4.1.2, but considerable effort has also been directed toward the development of intermolecular reactions. Early examples by Fu-jiwara and others used organic peroxides and related oxidants to promote catalytic turnover [182-184]. This section will highlight several recent examples that use BQ or dioxygen as the stoichiometric oxidant. [Pg.103]

The silyl group in 311, prepared by intramolecular silylformylation, is intermolecularly substituted by a phenyl group by a palladium-catalyzed reaction with Phi to give coupled product 312 (Equation (56)). ... [Pg.508]

The same group developed an interesting intermolecular palladium-catalyzed alienation of aryliodide with N-tosyl o-iodoanilines with nucleophiles in combination with two palladium-coupling reactions [69]. In this reaction, the N-allyl(2-iodopalladium)aniline intermediate 52 underwent an intramolecular Heck reaction followed by a cross-coupling reaction with phenyl boronic acid to give the 3,3-disubstituted indoline 53 in 78% yield (Scheme 8.27). [Pg.238]

A palladium(II)-catalyzed three component coupling reaction was established by Lu, who performed the intermolecular carbopalladation involving propargyl alcohols and alkenes, and this was followed consecutively by allylic chloride insertion to the C-Pd bond and its quenching by p-heteroatom elimination in the presence of an excess of chloride ions. An example is shown below <03TL467>. [Pg.178]
