Total Hydrocarbon Gontent. The THC includes the methane combined in air, plus traces of other light hydrocarbons that are present in the atmosphere and escape removal during the production process. In the typical oxygen sample, methane usually constitutes more than 90% of total hydrocarbons. The rest may be ethane, ethylene, acetylene, propane, propylene, and butanes. Any oil aerosol produced in lubricated piston compressor plants is also included here. [Pg.480]

Samples of HY zeolite were exhaustively treated with successive doses of tetramethylsilane in a static reactor at different temperatures in the range 250°-650°C. Rate data for methane evolution were obtained, and the kinetics were discussed. Silicon and some carbon were incorporated, giving gray materials parts of which were calcined in oxygen. Following Ashby s first observation (7) of chemiluminescence from the oxidative degradation of polymers, a number of papers have appeared dealing with oxidative chemiluminescence from a variety of polymers (8-16). In this chapter we continue the 1,4-polyisoprene work with a study of the low-temperature chemiluminescence emitted in the autoxidation of three additional elastomers, cis-1,4-polybutadiene, amorphous 1,2-polybutadiene, and fmns-polypentenamer. We also report the chemiluminescence obtained from singlet-oxygenated samples of cis-1,4-polybutadiene and trans-polypentenamer, as well as rate data for singlet oxygen reactions with the 1,4-polyisoprene, 1,4-polybutadiene, and model compounds in solution. [Pg.25]
