Oxygen indicator

Very low flammability with limiting oxygen indices in the range 35-50 and UL 94 V-0 ratings at as low a thickness as 0.4 mm in some instances, even without fibre reinforcement. [Pg.735]

One is the concerted decomposition of a dioxetanone structure that is proposed for the chemiluminescence and bioluminescence of both firefly luciferin (Hopkins et al., 1967 McCapra et al., 1968 Shimomura et al., 1977) and Cypridina luciferin (McCapra and Chang, 1967 Shimomura and Johnson, 1971). The other is the linear decomposition mechanism that has been proposed for the bioluminescence reaction of fireflies by DeLuca and Dempsey (1970), but not substantiated. In the case of the Oplopborus bioluminescence, investigation of the reaction pathway by 180-labeling experiments has shown that one O atom of the product CO2 derives from molecular oxygen, indicating that the dioxetanone pathway takes place in this bioluminescence system as well (Shimomura et al., 1978). It appears that the involvement of a dioxetane intermediate is quite widespread in bioluminescence. [Pg.87]

A mixture of bromine and phosphorus compounds was shown to be more effective in ABS resin than anticipated by the results obtained with the individual flame retardants. When bromine and phosphorus are in the same compound even higher oxygen indices were obtained. The data convincingly shows... [Pg.342]

Figure 4. Luminescence decay profile of an oxygen indicator dye excited by a short flash of light, in (a) solution and (b) embedded into a gas-permeable film used to fabricate fiber-optic sensors for such species. The logarithmic scale of the Y-axis allows to compare the exponential emission decay in homogeneous solution and the strongly non-exponential profile of the photoexcited dye after immobilization in a polymer matrix. Flammability. Flammability of the samples, in the form of thin strips of approximate dimensions of 120mm x 7iun x 3mm was determined by measurement of their oxygen indices (01 s) according to ASTM D2863, using a Stanton-Redcroft FTA module. [Pg.191]

The polymers were characterized by IB spectra in KEr pellets. A Digilab FTS-Il X Infrared Spectrometer was used for this purpose. The oxygen indices of the polymers were measured by using the General Electric oxygen index equipment. The oxygen index (01)... [Pg.268]

The other four additives gave 5-9% enhancement of char yields. Clay, NiCl2 but were less efficient. The oxygen indices of PMI with these additives were higher than that of pure PMI, but differences were not significant. [Pg.271]

However, it has recently been shown that the conductivity depends on the presence of oxygen, indicating ionization of the peroxide rather than the ethane.29 The reader will perhaps be surprised that it has also... [Pg.16]

Wu et al. [31] have recently presented a novel concept of designing oxygen nanosensors. They used the precipitation method to obtain polyfluorene beads (0 25 nm) doped with the oxygen indicator platinum(II) octaethylporphyrin. Poly (9,9-dihexylfluorene) belongs to materials widely used in OLEDs and has a bright blue emission when excited in the UV region. In beads, FRET-mediated red emission... [Pg.208]

The styrylpyridine based polycarbonates showed similar char yield and oxygen indices (Fig. 2 and Table II) to that of the polyesters. [Pg.217]

Generally, oxygen indices range from 17 up to more than 60. [Pg.169]

Oxygen indices are roughly 17 with a poor UL94 rating. [Pg.231]
