Overview of Definitions and Traditional Synthetic Strategies

Dendronized polymers, originally termed rod-shaped polymers , are polymers having a linear backbone with dendritic side chains (Frauenrath, 2005 Tonga et al, in press Schluter and Rabe, 2000 Malkoch et al, 2004). This structure may be synthesized via three conceptually [Pg.241]

2 CuAAC for the Synthesis of Hyperbranched Polymers, Dendronized Polymers and Unsymmetrical Dendrimers [Pg.243]

Recently, Mikhailov and coworkers reported another suitable AB2 monomer, 2-azido-((bis) propynyloxy)-l,3,5-triazine, which was also successfully used in the one-pot synthesis of hyperbranched polymers through CuAAC (Maikov et al, 2007). [Pg.243]

When using the A2 + B3 strategy, azobenzene-containing hyperbranched polymers were synthesized via a one-pot CuAAC reaction of 4-(bis(3-azidopropyl)amino-4 -nitroazobenzene (A2) and l,3,5-tris(alkynyloxy)benzene (B3) (Xie et al, 2008). Soluble polymers with molecular weights of about 15 000 g/mol have been obtained. [Pg.243]
