Applications.—Reviews on the applications of polyesters in diverse fields have appeared with weathering performance of reinforced polyesters in building, water-soluble polyester resins with a polyfunctional aromatic acid base, poly(ester-ether) block copolymers - a new type of thermoplastic elastomer, improved polyester radial tyre yam with potential material, pollution, and energy saving,and a thermoplastic polyester review.

Just as with other processing methods, shrinkage has to be taken into account. With polyesters shrinkage by curing may amount to 6 to 10 vol %. Glass reinforcement reduces this shrinkage by about a factor of two. 

Electrostatic powder coating using fine powders and rotomolding and lining using very fine pellets are other processing methods. Formulated primers are used to improve adhesion and moisture permeability for powder-coated metal substrates. For roto-lining, primers are usually not used.31... 

Different casting processes are used. They tend to overlap and could be identified by other processing methods. An example is liquid injection molding that can be identified as injection molding (Chapter 4) or reaction injection molding (Chapter 12). Many decades ago the reaction injection molding process was initially called liquid injection molding. 

There are many other processing methods which can reduce the viewing angle dependence of the optical properties of LCDs, e.g. pixel-divided cells and multidomain cells. However, these are beyond the scope of this monograph and will not be discussed further. Optical retardation sheets are often preferred by LCD manufacturers and systems integrators of FPDs, because commercially available compensation films can simply be laminated to the LCD using contact bonding. 

Compression molding is an example of a simple process which does not require expensive equipment but produces cheaply and in simple shapes. Unlike most other processing methods, compression molding does make materials inexpensive through the use of large quantities of fillers. Compression molding applies unidirectional forces usually perpendicular to the material s surface which may thus affect filler orientation. 

Other processing methods and variations on the above processes have been proposed that may merit consideration. Interested readers are referred to the Proceedings of the International Seminar on Battery Waste Management and the relevant journals cited at the end of the chapter for more detailed information on these and other processes.

Rotational molding is an economical process used to produce medium-to large-sized hollow parts from polymeric materials. It is a shear- and pressure-free process with processability of limited polymeric materials. Viscosity, surface tension, and thermal properties of polymer influence the sintering behaviors. Changes in economy and competition with other process methods shift from these techniques to rotational molding. The type of materials could be used in the process is mainly limited to poly-ethylenes [1].

We determined that the solution method for incorporating conductive particles into the liquid epoxy resin can provide the most imiform and the highest bulk adhesive electrical conductivity compared to other processing methods, such as two-roll mill and mechanical mixer dispersion methods (data not shown here). Hence, the solution mixing method is employed to prepare electrically conductive epoxy/Ni adhesives in this study.
