Other pavement design methods

Apart from the above methods, many other semi-analytical methodologies have been developed by various institutions in various countries. 

Some of them are the German methodology (RStO 01 2001), the Illinois State methodology (IDOT 2010), the New York State methodology (CPDM 2002) and the Washington State methodology (WSDOT 2011). 

In Canada, there is no single pavement design methodology. The provinces and the federal government use various methodologies, primarily the AASHTO (1993) methodology (C-SHRP 2002).

Data input and computational analysis are carried out by specially built powerful software known as AASHTOWare Pavement ME design (AASHTOWare 2013). Users are advised to build their own material library and traffic library, set up field sections for local calibration and so on, with the aim of continually upgrading the software.
