Permeation tests on preformed filter cakes are a usefiil means of investigating fbe functional relation between specific romance and cake concentration. The approach of using an e q)erimental technique to provide or measure the cake height with time, and to increase the cake-forming pressure by increments is likefy to become the major method of measuring filtration properties in the future. The procedure is quick and more reliable than a CP cell and yields much information on the filtration characteristics of the slurry and cake.
