Organometallic crown complex

Organometallic crown ethers have also been synthesized.96-98 Recently, a crown-cation group was shown to interact with an appended transition metal acyl ligand (29)." Complexes of this type have potential applications in Lewis acid-accelerated alkyl migration to coordinated carbonyls. 

A number of other metal-based redox-active centers have been incorporated into supramolecular receptors, representative examples of which are displayed in Fig. 5 (Compounds 24-28). Many of these receptors electro-chemically respond to cations. but species that respond to anions and neutral molecules are also known. A number of the cation binders are organometallic crown ether and metallocrown or metallothiacrown derivatives, for example. Compound 24. Flow-ever, in many cases, the redox processes are not particularly reversible, and relatively small anodic shifts in the metal-centered redox couples are observed. A series of self-assembled [12]metallocrown-3 complexes, two of which are 25 and 26, were found by Severin to bind halide salts of small Group 1 metals strongly in organic solvents, with affinities similar to those of the cryptands. A series of tryptycene-derived homooxacalixarenes (6) was conveniently prepared by a one-pot approach starting from 2,7-dihydroxytriptycene and l,3-bis(bromomethyl)benzene derivatives under mild conditions (13JOC981).Tryptycene-derived macrotricyclic polyethers containing two dibenzo [30] crown-10 cavities and different functionalized paraquat derivatives, diquat, and a 2,7-diazapyrenium salt in both the solid state and in solution were studied (13JOC3235). The first organometallic (Pd) complexes of an oxacalixarene were prepared by oxidative addition of the C-I bond on the lower rim (13IC6779).
