Organic reversible grafting

In summary, the hierarchically porous monolithic HSQ materials are highly useful for their in-built reactive Si—H moiety, for the synthesis of supported noble metal and alloy metal nanoparticles for catalytic applications. Furthermore, they can be used for reversible grafting of organic alcohols, which is a major advantage because they overcome the difficulties of traditional hydrolyzable precursors. [Pg.762]

Grafting of functional monomers onto fluoropolymers produced a wide variety of permselective membranes. Grafting of styrene (with the following sulfonation), (meth)acrylic acids, 4-vinylpyridine, A-vinylpyrrolidone onto PTFE films gave membranes for reverse omosis,32-34 ion-exchange membrane,35-39 membranes for separating water from organic solvents by pervaporation,49-42 as well as other kinds of valuable membranes. [Pg.99]

Peroxidase-catalyzed grafting of polyphenols on lignin was performed by HRP-catalyzed polymerization of />cresol with lignin in the aqueous 1,4-dioxane or reverse micellar system.57 Phenol moiety in lignin was reacted with />cresol to produce a lignin—phenol copolymer with a branched and/or cross-linked structure. The product was highly insoluble in common organic solvents. [Pg.256]

These phases have been prepared by polymerization of N, N -diaUyl derivatives of tartardiantide and grafted onto silica gel. As these phases are crosslinked and bonded to sihca gel, they are insoluble in organic solvents and there is no limitation regarding the choice of mobile phase. Normal mode, reversed-phase and supercritical fluid conditions have been applied. They show good mechanical stability, but the relatively high content of achiral sihca gel in these CSPs reduces their loading capacity. A few preparative separations have been reported on these two CSPs (Kromasil) [52-54], but so far they have not been widely used for preparative apphcations. [Pg.164]

The close relationship between the thymus and the more classic endocrine organs is further illustrated by the results of studies designed to elucidate the effects of endocrine ablative surgery on thymus gland function. Prepubertal orchidectomy resulted in an increase in thymus weight and accelerated rejection of skin grafts (Castro, 1974). The effects are reversible by testosterone administration. Adrenalectomy also delayed the involution of the thymus (Dougherty, 1952 Ishidate and Metcalf, 1963). [Pg.275]
