Organic accelerators, development

These processes are essentially accelerators to the natural process. At times, new molecules that have no corresponding organisms are developed. These molecules are referred to as recalcitrants and are of increasing interest to those who work with the enviromnental infrastructure. [Pg.28]

PRIMARY INFECTIONS. In the saprophytic phase (sexual reproduction) the development of the fungus starts with the fall of the leaves in autumn. The hyphae start to proliferate through the entire leaf and grow towards each other. Sex organs are developed and rudimentary perithecia are formed. After a dormant phase in the winter, the perithecia and the ascospores which they contain start to mature in the spring. Maturation is accelerated by warm wet weather, and slowed down by dry or cold weather. [Pg.126]

In 1921, C. W. Bedford, at Rubber Services Laboratories Co., L. B. Sebrell, for Goodyear Tyre Rubber, both in the US, and Bruni and Romani at Pirelli, in Italy, developed mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) (97) as an organic accelerator. In 1931, Bayer converted mercaptobenzothiazole into sulfenamides, that contain the grouping =CSNR2. These later became the most important class of accelerators. [Pg.57]

A haze was found to form on reconstitution of the stored lyophilised product. The haze was identified as containing paraffin, silicone oil and zinc. Despite screening of fifty different rubber formulations, the only viable solution at that time was to use the West Company s Teflon coated injection stopper. With the development of so-called Tow extract rubber formulations, MSD has been able to approve non-Teflon faced closures for this application.
