Option Basics

The choice of transport option, basically pipeline and liquid hydrogen trailer, depends on transport volumes and distances, as well as on liquefaction energy costs. For large transport volumes and long distances pipelines are exclusively used. Also, with smaller volumes and... [Pg.446]

A methadone detoxification is more often completed if it is done as an inpatient than as an outpatient (Gossop et al. 1986), but many individuals are reluctant to be admitted, and various other limitations of inpatient treatment were indicated in the Introduction. In attempting to provide the most useful combination of treatments in a community setting, we have no problem with offering methadone detoxification as an option, basically in cases where there are not the features favourable for the quicker methods. However, we do not expect it to proceed in a simple manner, and some of the more important practical management considerations are discussed below. [Pg.67]

If a company decides to operate more than one site, it has to decide on how to distribute activities across its sites. Ihde (2001, pp. 85-87) describes the basic options available. One option is to split volumes so that all sites perform all activities. This option basically duplicates activities at each new site. A second option is to divide activities across several sites by function, product or production process. In this case, each site specializes on a specific segment of the overall activities spectrum. Finally, the two options can also be combined leading to what Ihde calls a diversified site network. [Pg.15]

Bioremediation This has a slower treatment rate than the other options. Basically, impacted soils are mounded and then encapsulated with a plastic membrane after being blended with bacteria, nutrients, and bulking agents... [Pg.71]

Fuel cycle option, basic - Closed fuel cycle (U, TRUs, and some fission products will be recovered from the spent fuel and recycled) an option of on-line refuelling is being considered U-Pu-Zr ternary fuel - For a start-up core, the fresh fuel is composed of recovered LWR transuranics and depleted uranium in subsequent cycles, where the discharged TRU become available for manufacturing new fuel feeds, the fissile make-up of a core load will be based on recycled Pu - Pyro-processing of metallic fuel will be apphed the fuel cycle facilities (fabrication and reprocessing) will be co-located with the reactor at the same site - Closed fuel cycle (U, Pu) - Flexibility in fuel oxide, nitride or metallic fuel options - Non-aqueous methods of fuel reprocessing... [Pg.25]

Students and instructors). Each chapter presents first the basic surface chemistry of the topic, with optional material in small print. Derivations are generally given in full and this core material is reinforced by means of problems at the end of the chapter. A solutions manual is available to instructors. It is assumed that students have completed the usual undergraduate year course in physical chemistry. As a text for an advanced course, the basic material is referenced to fundamental, historical sources, and to contemporary ones where new advances have been incorporated. There are numerous examples and data drawn from both the older and from current literature. [Pg.801]

HyperChem run s the molecular dynain ics trajectory, averaging and analyzing a trajectory and creating the Cartesian coordinates and velocities, fhe period for reporting these coordinates and velocities is th e data collection period. At-2. It is a m iiltiplc of the basic time step. At = ii At], and is also referred to as a data step. The value 1I2 is set in the Molecular Dynamics options dialog box. [Pg.318]

There ate three basic technology options for making solar cells with do2ens of variations on each. These approaches ate conveniently grouped as follows thick (- 300 fiTo) crystalline materials, concentrator cells, and thin (- 1 fiva) semiconductor films. [Pg.470]

Presently, fieldbus controllers are single-loop controllers with 8- and 16-bit microprocessors and are options to digital field-control devices. These controllers support the basic PID control algorithm... [Pg.776]

Terminal Stream Compositions and Quantities These are basically linked to an arbitrary given the produc tion capacity of the leaching plant (rate of extrac t production or rate of raw-material purification by extrac tion). When options are permitted, the degree of solute remov and the concentration of the extrac t stream chosen are those that maximize process economy while sustaining conformance to regulatory standards. [Pg.1676]

The purpose of this subsection is to outhne the basic elements of a pollution-prevention cost-accounting system that incorporates both traditional and less tangible economic variables. The intent is not to present a detailed discussion of economic analysis but to help identify the more important elements that must be considered to properly quantify pollution-prevention options. [Pg.2169]

The impulse test is basically an in-house coil insulation withstand test for surge voltages and forms a part of the test requirement for HT machines with resin-rich formed coils of 2.4 kV and above. Once the machine is assembled, such a test is unnecessary, as it may not be able to reveal deficiencies, if any, in the insulation of the coils deep inside the slots. Moreover, if a failure is noticed on the assembled machine, there is no option but to scrap the whole winding. [Pg.261]

As with many consumer goods, compressors cannot be purchased without accessories. Some of the accessories are essential to the basic operation of the compressor, such as lubrication systems and couplings. Other accessories, such as the anti-surge control equipment, are optional in order to enhance operation but are not essential. The accessories may be purchased from the equipment vendor or they may be purchased from another party—a decision open to the purchaser. Generally, the accessories essential to the operation are purchased from the equipment vendor as part of the original purchase. The lubrication system and couplings are classic examples of this option. Intercoolers, while essential, are not normally purchased from the equipment vendor if the application is a process compressor. [Pg.302]
