Ophthalmic therapeutics topical instillation

Topical instillation is the principal route of ophthalmic drug delivery in the horse. It is used in the treatment of adnexal diseases, such as blepharitis and mebomiaiutis, and diseases of the ocular surfaces, such as conjunctivitis, superficial keratitis and comeal ulceration. Depending upon their physicochemical formulation, some drugs traverse the intact conjimctival and comeal epithelial barrier.
