Operator s station That position where an operator normally stands to operate or observe the machine. 

All vehicles must have operable brake lights, and a horn at the operator s station. 

Operator s station on all machinery is provided with overhead protection. 1 2 3 4 N/A... 

The operator s station of a hoisting machine shall be provided with overhead protection equivalent to tight planking not less than 2 inches thick. The support for the overhead protection shall be of equal strength. 

All controls used during the normal operation cycle shall be located within easy reach of the operator s station. 

If the operator s station is at a remote point, similar provisions for stopping the motor or engine shall be provided at the motor or engine location. 

All vehicles shall be equipped with an adequate audible warning device at the operator s station and in an operable condition. 

B) A sign warning that work is being done in the shaft shall be installed at the shaft collar, at the operator s station, and at each underground landing. 

Boom angle or radius indicator. The equipment must have a boom angle or radius indicator readable from the operator s station. Temporary alternative measures Radii or boom angle must be determined by measuring the radii or boom angle with a measuring device. 

A) Luffing boom tower cranes must have a boom angie indicator readabie from the operator s station. 

Rated capacities (load charts) are posted at the operator s station. If the operator s station is moveable (such as with pendant-controlled equipment), the load charts are posted on the equipment. 

A. Section 1926.601(a)(3) requires all motor vehicles to be equipped with an adequate audible warning device at the operator s station and in an operable condition. Section 1926.602(a)(9)(l) covers material handling equipment and requires all bidirectional machines, such as rollers, compactors, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and similar equipment, to be equipped with a horn, distinguishable from the surrounding noise level, which shall be operated as needed when the machine is moving in either direction. The horn is required to be maintained in an operative condition. The construction standards do not contain a grandfather clause for the use of horns.
