Ochratoxin

The biosynthetic origin of the one-carbon unit in ochratoxin A was examined by administration of sodium [ C]formatc (65%) to the culture medium. The C-labelled ochratoxin was hydrolysed with hydrochloric acid and esterifled with diazomethane to yield the methyl methoxyisocoumarin-carboxylate (25). The 15 MHz swept CW n.m.r. spectrum of this methyl [Pg.270]

An ofT-resonance-decoupIed spectrum of natural-abundance ochratoxin A aided in the shift assignment of some of the resonances of (25). These are compiled in Table 13. [Pg.271]

Note The natural fluorescence colors of some flavonoids [7, 9] and anthracene derivatives [16] are altered by the ammonia treatment. This makes possible differentiation on the basis of color. Detection limits per chromatogram zone have been reported of 2 ng for morphine and heroin [2], 6 ng for ochratoxin A [5] and 1 pg for penicillic acid [13]. [Pg.167]

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a my cotoxin produced by some species of Penicillium and Aspergillus. It is nephrotoxic to all animal species tested and the causal agent of mycotoxic porcine nephropathy (Krogh, 1978). It was previously associated with the human renal disorder, Balcan endemic nephropathy (BEN), and tumours of the urinary tract (Pfohl-Leszkowicz et al., 2002). Recently, another endemic kidney disease (Tunisian chronic interstitial nephropathy, CIN) was linked to OTA-contaminated food (Creppy, 1999 Wafa et al.,... [Pg.356]
