Nucleotide antibiotics

The stmcture of the nucleotide antibiotic, phosmidosine (185), isolated from the culture filtrates of Streptomjces sp. RK-16 has been elucidated (282). Phosmidosine inhibits pore formation of Botrytis cinerea 2mBA.spergillus niger... 

Fosfadecin (186) and fosfocytocin (187) are adenine and cytosine nucleotide antibiotics isolated from the culture filtrates of Pseudomonas viridiflava PK-5 and P. fluorescens PK-52, respectively (283). Hydrolysis produces fosfoxacin which is also isolated from the culture filtrates. Compounds (186) and (187) inhibit gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

The naturally occurring nucleoside/nucleotide antibiotics, which have been isolated from bacteria, fungi, blue-green algae, and marine sponges, have proven to be useful biochemical probes in eucaryotic, procaryotic, viral, fungal, and plant systems. Fosfadecin and fosfocytocin are adenine and cytosine nucleotide antibiotics isolated from culture filtrates of Pseudomonas species. Fosfadecin and fosfocytocin inhibit gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
