Non-aqueous titrimetry

Kaye (Ref 1 lb) has detd the purity of Ba02 using a non-aqueous titrimetry technique. Nor-witz (Ref 16a) has reported techniques for the detn of impurities in Ba02. In a subsequent report (Ref 32), he evolved a method for the detn of Ba02 (or Sn02) in small arms igniter compns. The technique consists of HC1 so In of the peroxide, filtn of in sol mats, reaction of the... [Pg.665]

Tests. Sr02 is detd in the pure state by non-aqueous titrimetry (Ref 5), and in igniter mixts spectrophotometricaily at 410 nanometers by reaction with Ti(lV) so In (Ref 13)... [Pg.670]

Non-Aqueous Titrimetry. A procedure for determining total amination is reported by MacDougall and Boyles (Ref 31b). The procedure includes a digestion of the TATB in O.IN perchloric acid—acetic acid soln, followed by titrimetric analysis. An excess of basic K acid phthalate is added and then back-titrated with the perchloric—acetic acid soln to a crystal violet end pt. The method requires a sample contg 86mgs of TATB ( V i meq), and the digestion of the TATB requires 48 hrs. The authors estimate that 18 samples can be titrated in an 8-hr day. They conclude that the method is stoichiometric and that the relative std deviation is io.1% for 1 meq amounts of TATB. Also, an IR scan is reported and presented as... [Pg.546]

The traditional areas of wet chemistry came under very close scrutiny and it was felt that whilst the overall size of Part D could be justifiably reduced, the chapter on titrimetry required modification to include a section on titrations in non-aqueous solvents as these are of particular application to organic materials. It was also felt that environmentally important titrations such as those for dissolved oxygen and chemical oxygen demand should be introduced for the first time. By way of contrast to this we considered that gravimetry has greatly diminished in application and justified a substantial reduction in volume. This in no way undermines its importance in terms of teaching laboratory skills, but the original multitude of precipitations has been substantially pruned and experimental details abbreviated. [Pg.904]

One of the least expensive and popular techniques for the quant detn of bound N in energetic materials is that of titrimetry. There are currently three basic titrimetry systems used aq acid-base, redox and non-aqueous (involving both acid-base and redox systems in which there is association, not ionization of the re-actants). The simple aq acid-base titrimetry system has been shown, earlier in the article, being used in the Kjeldahl, De varda and Ter-Meulen procedures to detn liberated NH3. It is also utilized, for example, to detn nitrosyi-sulfuric acid in mixed acids, total acidity in nitric acid, NG in exp] oils, and the N content of... [Pg.301]
