Nitrogen paints based

Thermosetting alkyd, polyester and acrylic paints based on nitrogen resins... [Pg.165]

While many industrial wastes are so low in nitrogen and phosphorus that these must be added if biologically based treatment is to be used, others contain very high levels ofthese nutrients. For example, paint-production wastes are high in nitrogen, and detergent production wastes are high in phosphorus. Treatment for removal of these nutrients is required in areas where eutrophication is a problem. [Pg.2213]

Isopropyl alcohol dissolves many other organic compounds easily, so it finds wide use as a solvent for gums essential and other kinds of oils alkaloids certain types of plastics derivatives of cellulose paints, varnishes, shellacs, and other types of coatings and quick-drying inks. Essential oils are oils extracted from plants that have therapeutic value. Alkaloids are organic bases that contain the element nitrogen. [Pg.388]

It is often necessary in the analysis of a mixture of compounds to determine the proportions in which the constituents of the mixture are present. Many natural products used as foods or drugs, or in the manufacture of paints, dyes, etc., are mixtures in which compounds of known composition are present in varying proportions. Thus, milk contains water, fat, inorganic salts, and organic nitrogen compounds. The quantitative determination of the constituents of such mixtures is called proximate analysis. Many methods have been applied in this branch of quantitative analysis. They are based on the physical and chemical properties of the compounds which constitute the mixtures. A few typical methods are described in the chapter in which fats and oils are discussed. [Pg.12]

Like other acrylic copolymers, these self-crosslinking acrylic nitrogen resins may be produced as latices or in water-soluble form and formulated into water-based paints. [Pg.174]
