Nitrogen compounds elemental analysis

Interest in the mechanism and product distribution of thermal and photochemical transformations of aryl azides led to the isolation of some nitrogen-containing derivatives of heptafulvalene. Based on elemental analysis and spectroscopic data it has been suggested tentatively that the compound isolated following vapor-phase pyrolysis of azidopentafluoro-... [Pg.135]

Comparative studies of the widely employed spectrophotometric readings at the Soret and Q bands (405 and 630 nm, respectively) and the elemental analysis of copper and nitrogen showed that the spectrophotometric assay based only on the Soret band can overestimate the purity of a preparation. Erroneous data were attributed to an increase in absorptivity at the Soret band when other colored compounds like metal-free analogs and carotenoids are present. Indeed, copper-free chlorin e6 exhibits a specific absorbance 3.6 times greater than that of its coppered counterpart. Therefore, measurements at the Q band (630 mn) and the establishment of the S Q ratio are preferred. [Pg.442]

Abstract Bis(3-methylbutantio) maleonitril has been obtained from the reaction of disodium salt, l-bromo-3 methylbiitan in acetone under nitrogen for 11 hours. MgPz has been synthesized through the cyclotetramerization reaction of magnesium and n-butanol with bis(3-methylbutantio) maleonitril. The metal free pophyrazine derivative was obtained by its treatment with trifluroacetic acid and further reaction of this product with cobalt(II) acetate, nickel(II) acetate and zinc(II) acetate led to the metal porphyrazine (MPz, M = Co, Ni ve Zn). These new compounds have been investigated and characterized by UV, FT-IR, H NMR, GC-MS and elemental analysis methods. [Pg.375]

Levene15 reported that heating of 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-mannose (8) in the presence of silver oxide leads to a crystalline, nitrogen-free compound to which he attributed the structure of 2,5-anhydro-D-glucose on the basis of its elemental analysis. The possibility of interconversion between the two chair forms Cl (d) — 1C (d), which would bring the amino group at C-2 into equatorial orientation, has been postulated.22 Without excluding this possibility, it remains to be proved that the deamination by silver oxide does, indeed, proceed by... [Pg.187]

In the chemical ionization mass spectrum of pentobarbital in Figure 22-4, the peak with the most significant intensity at the high end of the mass spectrum at mlz 227 is suspected to be MH+ If this is so. then the nominal mass of M is 226. The nitrogen rule tells us that a molecule with an even mass must have an even number of nitrogen atoms. If you know from elemental analysis that the compound contains only C, H. N. and O. how many atoms of carbon would you suspect are in the molecule ... [Pg.480]

A mixture of 2-chloroadenosine (13 g, 43 mM), 1,3-dichloro-l,1,3,3-tetraisopropyldisiloxane (15 g, 47.6 mM) and pyridine (150 mL) is stirred at room temperature under nitrogen for 3 hours. The solvent volume is reduced in vacuo and the resulting residue is dissolved in CH2CI2 (250 mL), washed with a saturated copper sulfate solution (2x150 mL) and dried with sodium sulfate. The organic layer is concentrated in vacuo and purified by column chromatography on silica gel (200 g) with ethyl acetate/hexane (1 1) to yield the title compound as a white powder (14.7 g, 63%, MP 198-200°C). NMR, IR and elemental analysis are confirmed the structure of the title compound. [Pg.1052]

Amines are characterized chiefly through their basicity. -Jt i fltFi lnsoluble compound that dissolves in cold dilute hydrochloric acid—or a water-soluble compound (not a salt. Sec. 18.21) whose aqueous solution turns litmus blue— must almost certainly be an amine (Secs. 22.5 and 23.2). Elemental analysis shows the presence of nitrogen. [Pg.775]
