Nitric esters electrolytic

Electrolytic reduction of nitric esters has also been reported (Kaufman, H, J. Cook and S. M. Davis [62]). 

Ohman53 in Sweden has developed Ian ingenious electrolytic process for the production of nitric esters direct from ethylene. The discharge of the nitrate ion (N07) at the anode liberates the free nitrate radical (NO3) which in part combines directly with ethylene to form nitroglycol. 

Glyoxylic acid is a raw material for various chemicals. It is generally produced by enzymatic or nitric acid oxidation of glyoxal, or electrolytic reduction of oxalic acid. It is also known that alkyl esters of glyoxylic acid are obtained by a vapor-phase oxidation of corresponding alkyl esters of glycolic acid [1]. The yield of ester reached 69 mol% at the conversion of 94%. 

Aminobutyric acid has been prepared by the electrolytic reduction of succinimide to pyrrolidone and hydrolysis of the latter by means of barium hydroxide,1 by the oxidation of piperylurethan with fuming nitric acid and the treatment of the resulting product with concentrated hydrochloric acid in sealed tubes at 100°,3 and by the hydrolysis of the condensation product from 2V-(/3-bromoethyl)-phthalimide and sodiomalonic ester.4 The present method is a slight modification of that of Gabriel.2...
