Nitrate aqueous

The dimethyl ethers of hydroquiaones and 1,4-naphthalenediols can be oxidized with silver(II) oxide or ceric ammonium nitrate. Aqueous sodium hypochlorite under phase-transfer conditions has also produced efficient conversion of catechols and hydroquiaones to 1,2- and 1,4-benzoquiaones (116), eg, 4-/-butyl-l,2-ben2oquinone [1129-21-1] ia 92% yield. [Pg.418]

Mixed hydroxide was prepared by a method previously described [9]. A mixture of 10% metal nitrate aqueous solution with a Zn Cr ratio of 0.5 was prepared. This solution was heated to 70 °C, while a 5% ammonia (Merck) aqueous solution was added drop wise under constant stirring, with the pH maintained at approximately 7.0. The mixture was digested for another 2 hours at 80 °C in order to complete the precipitation. The precipitate was filtered, washed and dried in air at 110 °C for 12 hours. Chemical analysis yielded Zn 21.4%, Cr 34.1%, O 41.9% and H 2.6%. [Pg.693]

The denitration of spent acids offers some en ironmcntal problems. The major one being the escape of nitrous fumes from the denitration columns. According to Bcrkman (13) they can be introduced to a solution of sodium hydroxide to obtain sodium nitrate and nitrate aqueous solution. Tlie same... [Pg.580]

Phenols can be mononitrated in a two-phase system (ether/water) by sodium nitrate and aqueous hydrochloric acid in the presence of a catalytic amount of lanthanum(III) nitrate in yields genei ly above 80%. Phenol itself gives 2 1 ortho.para nitration, while phenols substituted in the para position give predominantly ortho nitration with some meta nitration (equation 21). As shown recently nitration of phenols in the two-phase system occurs even without lanthanum(III) nitrate. By use of sodium nitrate, aqueous sulfuric acid and a catalytic amount of sodium nitrite in the two-phase system mononitration of phenols can be achieved in high yields. Under these conditions starting from 3-substituted phenols in addition to the nitro compounds formation of quinones has been observed. Polyhydroxy aromatics are typically difficult to nitrate directly. Thus, 4,6-dinitroresorcinol (45) has been synthesized from resorcinol diacetate (44) with nitric acid or mixed solutions of nitric acid/sulfuric acid containing urea as a nitrous trap (equation 22). ... [Pg.110]

In particular, when a solvent extraction system of uranyl nitrate, aqueous nitric acid, and tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in a hydrocarbon diluent was irradiated with a CO2 laser, a change was observed in the equilibrium distribution of uranyl nitrate between the phases (14). When the solution was irradiated at 944 cm 1, close to the uranyl asymmetric stretching frequency, the effect was observed. When a nonresonant frequency was used or the energy was absorbed in the solvent, no effect was observed. Little heating could be expected, and, in any case, heating effects should have been in the opposite direction from that observed. [Pg.262]

The Hp-zeolite sample was provided by Zeolyst International CP811E-75 (lot 1822-74 Si02/Al203 = 75, surface area -519 m g ). The Ni/Hp zeolite samples were prepared according to the following procedure First, 250 ml of a nickel nitrate aqueous solution (0.14M) was prepared. This solution was divided in two parts one part (40 ml) was used to dissolve urea at room temperature and the other part (210 ml) was used to make a suspension of 1.9 g of HP zeolite (pH = 2). Afterwards, the zeolite suspension was heated to 70 °C and mixed with the urea dissolution. The mixture was taken to 90 °C to start the deposition-precipitation of nickel onto the HP zeolite (Fig. 1). At the end of the chosen DP time (1 to 4 h), the suspension was cooled to 15-20 °C and filtered and the solid was washed three times with 20 ml of distilled hot water (50-60 °C). Finally, the samples were dried at 110 °C for 24 hours. Hereafter, the samples will be referred to as Ni/Hpi, Ni/Hp2, Ni/Hp3 and Ni/Hp4, where the numbers indicate the time in hours of deposition-precipitation used in the preparation of the sample. [Pg.538]
