Nickel placement

Placement occurs through an isomerization process similar to that responsible for 3,1-placement in propene polymerization (Sec. 8-5c-l). 1,3-Placement is also observed with nickel and palladium a-diimine initiators [Sacchi et al., 2001] (Sec. 8-8b). 1,3-Placement has not been reported for other cycloalkene polymerizations. [Pg.683]

At the conclusion of the paving work at Corpus Christi, two electrolytic cells were cast of sulfur concrete for use in the zinc refinery. Subsequent to the work at Corpus Christi, a sulfur concrete floor was applied in the nickel plant at the Asarco Amarillo copper refinery. An isolating barrier of bitu-mastic material was mopped on the concrete before the sulfur concrete pour. This floor, a substantially smaller area, was overlaid on a damaged existing floor. Similar techniques to those described were used in mixing and placement. [Pg.207]

Substitution of iron by nickel can be expected to order the Ni atoms at the corner positions since placement of a nickel atom (tigers1) at a face requires the eg orbital perpendicular to the N—Nif bond to be filled, thus preventing N atoms from occupying adjacent octahedral sites. (Occupancy would require antibonding Nif states to be populated.) Such an effect hinders N diffusion. In fact it was found... [Pg.341]

Using data from other alkaloids, the NMR data enabled substantial progress to be made in the placement of the esterifying ester groups, but in these compounds the cathate bridge provided a novel feature. In the cases of both E3 and E4 this dilactone bridge could be opened by hydrogenolysis over palladium or by Raney nickel treatment to form 55 and 56, respectively. A new methyl resonance appeared in the NMR spectrum, and the new phenolic hydroxyl was characterized by a reversible bathochromic shift in the UV spectrum on the addition of... [Pg.152]

Fig. 12. Model of structure assumed for carbon monoxide adsorbed on (100) nickel (236). Bonding is bridge-type as in Fig. 11. The four different equivalent placements of the adsorbate mesh are illustrated by the four types of patches. The unit mesh shown is 0(2 x 2). Open circles are CO, black dots are centers of Ni atoms. Cyclopentene yields mixtures of ROMP and double-bond polymerization with some Ti and V initiators. ROMP occurs exclusively with molybdenum and tungsten initiators, as well as Re, Nb, and Ta initiators. The relative amounts of cis and trans structures vary with the initiator and temperature [DalTAsta et al., 1962 Pampus and Lehnert, 1974]. Metallocene initiators polymerize cyclopentene through the double bond, but the polymer structure consists of cis 1,3-placement (Coates, 2000 Kaminsky, 2001 Kelly et al., 1997]. 1,3-Placement occurs through an isomerization process similar to that responsible for 3,1-placement in propene polymerization (Sec. 8-5c-l). 1,3-Placement is also observed with nickel and palladium a-diimine initiators [Sacchi et al., 2001] (Sec. 8-8b). 1,3-Placement has not been reported for other cycloalkene polymerizations. [Pg.683]

The placement of permanent bends of 135 in the nickel-titanium archwires failed to yield definitive increases (Afl" values) for the low-temperature martensite peaks on the TMDSC plots, compared to those for the as-received wires [35,37], It was assumed that bends with acute angles would be needed to increase the amount of work-hardened martensite sufficiently to cause significant increases in the enthalpy changes associated with these low-temperature peaks. [Pg.647]

The steam reforming is an endothermic reaction therefore, the reaction is used for hydrogen production and control of the temperature distribution due to the cooling ability by the endothermic reaction. The catalyst for internal reforming is generally a nickel-based material supported on an oxide such as MgO, calcium aluminate, or a-alumina. Molten carbonate poisons the reforming catalyst therefore, placement and improvement of the catalysts are important for the internal reforming system [2, 5]. [Pg.1318]

The internally insnlated nickel superalloy hot leg concept presented a number of signifieant development issnes including material selection, manufacturability, modeling and testing, and placement of the tnrbine entrance temperature sensor. The following sections briefly describe the development efforts that the NRPCT wonld have focnsed on to deliver the internally insnlated hot leg piping concept. [Pg.202]
