Chapman-Jouguet pathological detonation is briefly discussed on p 156 of Ref 66, where Fig 29 shows "Constant pressure, Chapman-Jouguet pathological detonation [See also under Detonation, Neumann s Pathological, p D457]... [Pg.703]

Von Neumann explained the key features of pathological detonation with Molar reduction using one reaction in Fig. 2.14. When D > D, there are two vertical segmentations. The segmentation, which starts from point N and ends point S, is at the top. Subsonic fluctuation is at the end point S. When Dreaction starts from point N, and only reaches partial reaction point T. When D = D, there is saddle-backed configuration at point P. [Pg.45]

Although the pathological detonation stated by Von Neumann is very interesting in theory, its application value in condensed explosives is not clear yet. The time of detonation reaction and positive pressure action of liquid explosives is far longer than that of the condensed explosives. This explained why the detonation theory of condensed explosives is not supported by the detonation theory of liquid explosives [14-16]. [Pg.46]

The Zel dovich- van Neumann-Doering Model The Chapman- Jouguet Hypothesis and Pathological Weak Detonations... [Pg.703]

When D = D, the state point starts from shock wave point N to Rayleigh line. The state point line is tangential to the envelope curve. The state point reaches strong compression point S or weak detonation point W of the Hugoniot curve (A = 1). The contact point P of Rayleigh line and the envelope line is between S and W. Von Neumann named point P as the pathological point. [Pg.45]
