Neopentyl glycol succinate

Cimbura and Kofoed (50),mentioned earlier, used GLC to separate amphetamine and methamphetamine after acetylation with acetic anhydride in methanol. Derivatives were extracted using diethyl ether and chromatographed op columns of either 3% OV-17, OV-1, or SE-30. Column temperature was 160°C. They also reported the chromatographic determination of acetylated morphine on 3% SE-30, OV-1, or OV-17 at temperatures of 220°C. Cruickshank et al.(21) separated 21 amino acids as their trifluoroacetylated methyl esters. The column was 5% neopentyl glycol succinate on Gas Chrom P. Column temperatures were both isothermal and programmed 65°C for 20 min at 1.5°C/min then 2°C/min until 42.5 min then 4°C/min until 60 min then isothermal until about 75 min (see Figure 12.2). Chang et al. (19), used BSA/pyridine to form the TMS derivatives of levodopa, methyldopa, tyrosine. [Pg.619]

Not unexpectedly, gas chromatography is the method of choice for the analysis of herbicides. McKone et al. [154] compared gas chromatographic methods for the determination of Atrazine (2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-iso-propylamino-l,3,5-triazine), Ametryne (2-ethylamino-4-isopropylamino-6-methylthio-l,3,5-triazine) and Terbutryne in water. The herbicides were extracted from water with dichloromethane and the dried extracts were evaporated to dryness at a temperature below 35°C By gas chromatography on a glass column (lru 4rnm) of 2% neopentyl glycol succinate on Chromosorb W (80-100 mesh) operated at 195°C and with a RbBr-tipped flame ionisation detector the three herbicides could be separated and 0.00 lppm of each detected. This method was found to be superior to spectrophotometric and polarographic methods. [Pg.283]

On neopentyl glycol succinate, TFA derivatives of ethanolamines give symmetric peaks, making possible quantitative evaluation. [Pg.98]

Mori et al. [87] analysed the components of polyamide resins by GC after silylation with the aid of BSA. About 10-mg portions of the samples are dissolved in 0.15 ml of acetonitrile in a 10-ml flask and 0.03 ml of triethylamine and 0.15 ml of BSA are added gradually. The flask is connected to a reflux condenser and heated at 90°C for 30 min with the elimination of the excess of air humidity. Another 0.15 ml each of BSA and acetonitrile are added gradually and the flask is heated for 30 min. The solution is then made up to a known volume with acetonitrile and 10 pi are injected into the gas chromatograph. Binding of the hydrochloric acid produced makes necessary the addition of triethylamine to the reaction mixture. In order to separate TMS derivatives, Mori et al. used a 2-m column packed with 5% of neopentyl glycol succinate on Celite 545 at 160°C, and a relative error of 4.4% was obtained for the quantitative analysis. The same column coated with SE-30 or Apiezon L failed. [Pg.101]

A more complete resolution of the DDT-derived compounds in the soil extracts was achieved by electron capture gas chromatography. A mixed column of 5% QF-1 and 5% Dow 11 was used in a Wilkens gas chromatograph. This column satisfactorily separated the pesticides present except in a few cases when an unknown material appeared in the same regions as p,p-DDT. In these cases, a column composed of either SE 30 or 2% neopentyl glycol succinate on Chromasorb W resolved this mixture. The unknown amounted to about 3 p.p.m. calculated as p,p-DDT. [Pg.273]
