Neatness and Cleanliness

All solid and filter paper waste should not be thrown in the sink. [Pg.3]

It is pertinent to mention here that there exists not a single known universal cleansing mixture. Therefore, based on the nature of the deposit and amount of the deposit a chemist must undertake the process of cleaning accordingly in a systematic manner rather than adopting a haphazard style. [Pg.4]

The various usual standard cleansing processes are stated below in a sequential manner namely  [Pg.4]

Note In (1) and (2) above cases the washings of basic and acidic aqueous solutions may be washed down the drain thoroughly with plenty of fresh water so that the drainage pipes are duly flushed out of the corrosive substeinces. [Pg.4]

Note In the event when washing with a mixture of washing powder and water fails to give an entirely satisfactory results, the powder may be mixed with a polar organic solvent, for instance acetone or iso-propanol. [Pg.4]

Neatness and cleanliness are very important in a laboratory. Arrange the shelves above your table to suit your own convenience, but after every experiment, be sure to return each piece of equipment to its proper place. Keep all metal and glassware clean and dry. Keep the outside of your stock bottles clean and free of any chemical substance. Replace worn or torn boxes at once. Label everything in your laboratory correctly and legibly. Caution If you use kitchen utensils in your laboratory, make sure your mother doesn t want to use them anymore. Even if they re washed, it isn t safe to cook with them after they have held chemicals. [Pg.20]

Standardisation means continuous and repeated maintenance of organisation, neatness and cleanliness. The emphasis is on visual management. Ironically, this method of inspection is both simple and cheap in comparison to the more sophisticated, computer-based systems often attempted by Western corporations. [Pg.43]

Maintenance of an impeccably clean storeroom and good physical organization that are essential for the preservation of the fabric collection is impossible without qualified personnel. Selection of a caretaker (not to be confused with the person responsible for the upkeep of the museum building) is likely to be very difficult. As the museum fabric field is not an established professional area, it is best to train an individual according to his or her ability and development. At the outset, he must be sensitive in touch and vision, have a strong sense of cleanliness and neatness, and also an ability to tolerate tedious routines. The position should not be filled casually by any job applicant who comes along. [Pg.167]

Whilst the fundamental principles of combustion are common to both macro and micro methods, the actual conditions and mode of operation are markedly different. In the micro method the importance of absolute cleanliness and neatness of operation cannot be overstressed. [Pg.453]

Another consideration of formulators is that consumers, as stated above, do not view products as being as neatly compartmentalized as manufactmers do. When a consumer wishes to clean a dirty bathtub, for example, they may have tried a cleanser, a dilutable APC, and a specialty spray soap scum ranover to do the job. All of these products are competing for the same job—cleaning soap scum from the bathtub surface. The consumer may use any or all of them to get the job done, according to their own personal standard of cleanliness, desire to apply elbow grease, and evaluation of the surface condition (new or worn, sensitive or impervious, etc.). [Pg.9]
