Nature as the background

Background here means not only the back cloth of the firework display, but the whole environment. Nature means the natural order involving natural and artifical things such as sky, cloud, mountain, gorge, forest, lake, sea, ships, houses, palaces, temples, churches, shrines, lights, the moon, the sun, wilderness, desert etc. [Pg.2]

Weather conditions particularly disturb the beauty of fireworks and a cloudy sky especially hides the flowers of fire. Strong wind is not desirable, but no wind is equally unhelpful because it causes a large volume [Pg.2]

Nature cannot be controlled by man but it is possible to foresee the conditions to some extent. When we plan a firework display, we try to arrange it so that it harmonizes with these backgrounds as far as possible. [Pg.3]


Ottawa 20-30 mesh sand (0.60-0.85 mm ASTM designation C778), obtained from U S. Silica Co., Ottawa, IL, was used as the porous medium for column experiments and as the background medium for box studies. Low-permeability layers were packed within Ottawa 20-30 mesh sand in 2-D box studies. The rectangular layers consisted of a natural aquifer material obtained from Wurtsmith AFB in Oscoda, Michigan and F-70 sand (Ottawa 40-270 mesh) obtained from U.S. Silica Co.
