Just as we introduced a narrative-style template for defining use cases, it is also useful to incorporate exceptions into use case narratives.

The narrative style. This particular story has both a plot (foreground story) and a character layer (background story). The background story gravitates around the issue of the priest as spiritual leader and of the man as a sexual being. The presence of another "sexual" priest in the same parish suggests sexuality is a problem for more than one Catholic priest in the Parish. The other priest, however, is heterosexual. That priest is also socially and politically active in the community, whereas the main character is concerned with the... 

The conclusions which follow are better numbered than presented in narrative style. And I repeat that these reactions are purely personal. 

DOCUMENTING THE RESULTS. The what-if analysis produces a tabular listing of narrative-style questions and answers that constitute potential accident scenarios their qualitative consequences and possible risk-reduction methods. Table 4.7 shows the format of a what-if analysis worksheet. Although some what-if analyses are documented in a narrative-style format, a table makes the documentation more organized and easier to use. 

Two short examples may suffice to illustrate this narrative style in Coelidonia Maier repeatedly refers to members of his family, above all to his father and mother, but also to a sister and her three sons. Yet, however gratefully he remembers both of his parents endeavours to provide for his scholarly education, not once does he mention so much as their names. Similarly, Maier informs his readers that he attended two schools and two universities, until in the 24th year of his life he obtained his Master of Arts degree. The schools remain unidentified. Nor is it from the curriculum, but from surviving university records that the latter can be identified as Rostock... 

JHA is a useful technique for identifying hazards so that measures can be taken to ehminate or control them. Once the analysis is completed, the results must be communicated to all workers who are, or wiU be, performing that job.The side-by-side format used in JHA worksheets is not an ideal one for instructional purposes. Better results can be achieved by using a narrative-style format. For example, the work procedure based on the partial JHA developed as an example in this document might start out hke this ...
