Main character

In the play, Arsenic and Old Lace, elderberry wine was laced with arsenic to put old men out of their misery. One of my favorite. French movies is The Sorceress, where elder is used for its many healing virtues by the main character, a medieval herbalist and wise woman. 

To understand the full significance of this story, bear in mind that today the main characters — defendants in the most far-reaching criminal trial in history — are all alive and free to work against the way of life you and I cherish. 

Concerning the effects of dimensionality I strongly recommend the book entitled Flatland from E. A. Abbott, an Anglican clergyman (1838-1926), and in particular the chapter where the main character, a square in Hatland, meets the King of Lineland.

Winston Smith, the main character in George Orwell s apocalyptic novel 1984, perceived while reading the secret Brotherhood s book that the best books are those that tell you what you know already. If you are encountering the field of molecular organic materials for the first time and do not want to contradict Orwell, you are invited to read the book you are holding in your hands more than once. If you are an expert in the field I hope you will discover new and perhaps unexpected issues. 

As I mentioned in other chapters, Proust was a fascinating writer, best known for his seven-volume work. In Search of Lost Time (older English translations have used the title Remembrance of Things Past). The novel draws heavily on the Proust s own life and experiences, but he made sure that the main character also had experiences that Proust never had. Most of the book s characters were metaphors for actual people he had encountered in real life, and the characters often combine traits of several different friends or lovers. The closeness of the novel to his life is revealed on two occasions near the end of the novel, when he mentions that Marcel is the first name of the narrator. 

Your novel should have two main characters Cl and C2 (a man and a woman) and two secondary characters C3 and C4 (also a man and a woman). Cl should fall in love with C2 during the course of the book, or, if already in love, their love should deepen. A subliminal attraction should also exist between Cl and C4 to increase tension. Character Cl should have a special skill that will help him (or her) solve problems presented in the book. 

Betel nut, the source of arecoline, is dried, smoked or salted in preparation for chewing by the natives of southern Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines and eastern Africa. The pieces are rolled in a betel leaf vine which has been smeared with quicklime. Chewing this concoction makes the saliva red. The musical South Pacific has Bloody Mary as one of its main characters. Her name denoted the color of her tongue and teeth. 

The first act of Volpone develops the central conflict and introduces the main characters of the play. Jonson begins the second act with the people and action of the parallel subplot. The most obvious parallel is the gullible nature of Sir Politic, whom Peregrine uses as his fool. 

Yadav et al. (2000) established the association between morphological and quality traits of chilli fruit germplasm. Good pungency, bright red colour, high oleoresin concentration and few seeds in the fruit are the main characters on which quality is based and priced.

What can the above analysis tell us about the main character and the origin of the Be2 bond ... 

One of the more promising developments at present for the short film is the combining of three or more shorts to produce a film that can be marketed as a feature. A recent example of this is writer/director Rebecca Miller s well received first "feature," Personal Velocity (2002)—three short films of under 30 minutes each, which are unified by theme, rather than location or use of the same actors. Each main character is a woman on the verge of a major change in her relationship to the man she lives with, and to the world. 

The simplicity lies in the restricted number of characters, often no more than three or four, and the level of plotting, which is usually a simple story. This does not mean that the main character is necessarily simple in the short film, but it does mean that an economy of style is employed to create that character. There is no time in the short film for the kind of pauses for elaboration of character so often deployed in the long film. 

It happens that the two structures that have proved most useful in shaping material for a short screenplay are those considered by scholars to be the very oldest of narrative forms the journey, and what we call the ritual occasion. If you have a main character clearly in mind, and a good idea of what that character s situation is and of what it is that he or she is after, you can often get a script off to a good start simply by choosing one or the other of these as a structure for your story line and seeing where it takes you. 

At one point the main character, standing miserably in the packed train, glances about him and meets the eyes of an attractive woman sitting opposite. When she looks away, he surreptitiously studies her. She catches him at it, tosses her head, and frowns he shifts his eyes, muttering a protest to himself. They both get out at the next stop and wait on the subway platform to change trains. 

It is worth noting that Champion, while similar in structure to Going to Work in the Morning from Brooklyn, and concerned with a similar theme, is completely different both in its main character and in what the philosopher Susanne Langer has called "feeling" and "feeling-tone."... 

In this film, the arrival of a stranger who conforms to the imaginary lover created by two sisters triggers the ritual occasion—in this case, a "coming of age"—around which the film revolves. Unlike many such stories, the main character in this one rejects the opportunity offered, suffering accordingly when the younger sister seizes it.
