Narcotics individual substances

Structurally non-specific action is usually due to the accumulation of a drug in an important part of a cell which possesses dominant lipid characteristics. Substances like alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, ketones, amides, ehlorinated hydro-carbons, ethers and alcohols display narcotic activity which is directly proportional to the partition coefficient of each individual substances. 

Talwin Nx Talwin Nx is intended for oral use only. Severe, potentially lethal reactions (eg, pulmonary emboli, vascular occlusion, ulceration and abscesses, withdrawal symptoms in narcotic-dependent individuals) may result from misuse of this drug by injection or in combination with other substances. 

Talwin, another opium derivative, is a Schedule IV narcotic. Schedule IV drugs have less potential for abuse than Schedule III drugs, an accepted medical use in the United States, and the likelihood of limited physical or psychological dependence if abused. Federal trafficking penalties for a first offense of a Schedule HI substance is not more than three years and fines of up to 250,000 for individuals and one million dollars for organizations. A second offense carries a maximum of 30 years to life if a death is involved and lines up to two and 10 million dollars.

Propoxyphene hydrochloride is a narcotic analgesic, a class of substances that can cause biochemical changes in the body leading to chemical dependency. 

From 1 November 2004 to 31 October 2005, the Board was informed under Project Prism of 1,893 individual shipments involving licit international trade in ephedrine and pseudoephedrine. Those consignments were exported by 21 countries and territories and were destined for nearly 100 importing countries and/or territories. According to information provided on form D, on substances frequently used in the illicit manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, for 2004, the total volume of licit trade in ephedrine was 526 tons, and that in pseudoephedrine was 1,207 tons. Carbon disulfide and carbon oxysulfide are volatile substances with low to moderate toxicity. The psychopathological effects of carbon disulfide arising from chronic exposure include neuritis, bizarre dreams, insomnia, irritation, and excitation. Carbon oxysulfide is an irritant and narcotic at high concentrations. Very little information is available on the human toxicity of sulfides, disulfides, and sulfones. Organic sulfur compounds are notable for their disagreeable odor. In an extremely pure state, several such compounds have a mild sweet odor. A detailed discussion of the toxicity of individual compounds of commercial interest is presented in the following sections.
