It has been already mentioned that the number of elements at present known is sixty-two. These have received the names given in the following Table, in which the twenty-one most important elements are distinguished by the largest type, those next in importance by medium type, whilst the names of elements which are either of rare occurrence, or of which our knowledge is yet very imperfect, are printed in the smallest type. [Pg.15]
