N-Methyl-3-piperidyl benzilate

In this paper an attempt has been made to study the effect of 3 anticholinergic drugs, namely, atropine, hyoscine and N-methyl-3-piperidyl benzilate, on the EEG and on auditory evoked potentials in cats subjected to different environmental conditions and trained to a conditioned avoidance response. The effects of these drugs have been compared with effects produced by LSD-25 and chlorpromazine. 

The drugs were dissolved in sterile physiological saline and administered by the intramuscular route. The drugs and doses used in this study were atropine sulphate (2.4 mg/kg), hyoscine hydrobromide (0.24 mg/kg), N-methyl-3-piperidyl benzilate hydrochloride (0.5 mg/kg), LSD-25 tartrate (10 jug/kg) and chloropromazine hydrochloride (5 mg/kg).
