Temperature effects may also be used in test methods and notably for assessing the effects of inhibitors in acid solutions. The technique is based on that first proposed by Mylius which records the temperature-time behaviour associated with the exothermic reaction resulting from the initial contact of a metal with a corrosive acid solution. The effectiveness of inhibitors may then be determined from their effects on the temperaturetime behaviour. ... [Pg.991]

In Christian iconography the grave was pictured as a devouring mouth, an image that was kin to the mouth of Hell. In another emblem from Mylius Philosophia RJbrmata (1622) corpses are shown dispersed over the surface of the earth. Their graves have been opened and carrion birds hover around, picking the flesh oflf the... [Pg.67]

When we begin to look at the material of the hermetic tradition we are quickly struck by the elaborate and beautiful emblematic engravings especially from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, such as those of De Bry, Merian and others, illustrating the works of Robert Fludd, Michael Maier, Mylius, Khunrath, etc, which now seem almost mandatory... [Pg.423]

Decammino-/i-oxy-dicobalticSalts,[(NH3)5Co". 02.Co/"(NH3)5] R4, and Decammino-jU-anhydroxy-dicohaltic Salts, [(NH3)5Co". Oa,CoIV(NH3)5]R5.—The two series of salts are very closely related, the latter being derived from the former. In the first series both cobalt atoms are trivalent in the second series one cobalt atom is assumed to be tetravalent. The oxy-salts were among the first of the polynuclear compounds prepared and examined, and in 1898 Werner and Mylius prepared the nitrate of the series and proved the constitution of these salts, showing them to be compounds formed by the union of two pentammino-cobalt nuclei by means of a molecule of oxygen. [Pg.169]
