My Architect

Themes may emerge from the questions that initially drove the filmmaking. On one level. My Architect is about a middle-aged filmmaker s quest to know the father he lost at the age of 11, some 30 years...

My favorite science book on the subject is Rudy Rucker s The Fourth Dimension, which covers an array of topics on space and time. My favorite science-fiction story is Robert Hein-lein s — And He Built a Crooked House, first published in 1940. It tells the tale of a California architect who constructs a four-dimensional house. My objects in presenting this material are to remind designers, architects and planners that a stereotyped laboratory does not provide for effective use of space and to suggest to users that there are cost-effective ways to elude the more-confining designs and still work within the system. 

You can understand that my main hobby now is to play the computer game 0 initio with Bach partitas resonating in the background. I would rather do that than read what novelists have written, enjoy what artists have painted, or admire what architects have achieved. 

I will be known for the ATP synthase. I will be known at UCLA also for founding the interdepartmental Molecular Biology Institute. My legacy otherwise will be my wonderful family relationships. My wife has been their principal architect.

Libeskind s design entitled Between the Lines was chosen from a world-wide competition of 165 entries (Levenson, 2005), and, of course, the architect was ecstatic when he won It was a thrilling moment when I was selected. The jury recognized that my plan was neither dogmatic nor glib that it served as an individualized mirror, which each visitor could read in a different way. They valued its authenticity and celebrated its originality. I felt honored and elated (Libeskind, 2004, p. 85). 

I came to the college basically because my brother came here or whatever so I just wanted to be with him. When I got to the college, I knew I had wanted to do engineering. Well I knew I wanted to be an architect. I just didn t know which way I wanted to go. A couple of my friends I came into CO liege with they were also doing pre-engineering and they wanted to do architecture and be architects as well, so I figured that was the way to go.
