Other than the markings that are required for specification packaging (which are beyond the scope of this chapter), the regulations prescribe marking requirements for all outside containers, and certain additional requirements for portable tanks, cargo tanks, tank cars and multi-unit tank car tanks, specified hazardous materials, and exports by water, each of which is considered in turn.
