Mould sealing

The use of semi-permeable open-cell polyurethane-foam mould seals enables composites with a void content as low as 1 %v and a fibre loading of 73 %(m/m) to be made. [Pg.278]

Mould sealing arrangements are more complex. Sealing must contain resin and maintain pressure levels within the mould, as the mould pieces move together during the secondary mould-closing phase. [Pg.351]

Ramp-controlled mould sealing provides for positioning on the clamping platen which is accurate to the millimetre, providing problem-free operation of the handling devices. [Pg.124]

Mould sealing, which is characterised by high rigidity and parallelism of the mould platen, as well as fast opening and elosing speeds enable a rapid injection cycle. Due to the fast vulcanisation time of LSR, 4 to 5 second cycles are not rare. [Pg.124]

PLUNGER STEEL/SILICONE RUBBER M/C (MOULDED SILICONE RUBBER END SEAL)... [Pg.99]

The pole has a eharaeteristie dimension of 8 mm from the rear of the bobbin to the reeess faee and has a toleranee assigned to it of 0.02 mm. From the pole reeess faee, the tube base toleranee is the last eomponent to make up the toleranee staek. The brass tube has been given a dimensional toleranee on its base of 0.2 0.025 mm. Note, the dimensional toleranee on the plunger is 28 0.05 mm, but the analysis will eoneentrate on the silieone rubber seal length of 6 mm beeause this is moulded onto the plunger and again is a mould related dimension. [Pg.102]

Early records also indicate that cast mouldings were prepared from shellac by the ancient Indians. In Europe the use of sealing wax based on shellac can be traced back to the Middle Ages. The first patents for shellac mouldings were taken out in 1868. [Pg.2]

PTFE mouldings and extrudates may be machined without difficulty. Film may be obtained by peeling from a pressure sintered ring and this may be welded to similar film by heat sealing under light pressure at about 350°C. [Pg.370]

One such process is the TAP process, the basic patent being held by Dow. It was developed in Japan by Asahi in conjuction with Toshiba. Foam expansion after mould filling is made possible by use of retractable mould cores. Because of the difficulty of allowing expansion in more than one direction this process has been largely limited to the production of flat products. Efficient gas sealing systems are also vital and the process needs close control. For this reason it has not been widely used in either Europe or North America. [Pg.460]

Volatile corrosion inhibitors are particularly useful when oil, grease or other adherent films are unsuitable. They should be used in conjunction with a primary wrap which should form as close an approach to a hermetically-sealed pack as possible. They are widely used to provide protection to precision tools, moulds and dies, and also on a larger scale to car body components. [Pg.763]

A wax-like polymer with resistance to a wide range of temperatures, high resistance to chemical attack and very low frictional resistance. It is widely used in O-rings, seals and gaskets it may also be sintered on to a mould surface to assist the release of the product. Polythene... [Pg.49]

The uses of NR are myriad and a complete summary is not really possible. Its unique and excellent properties are utilised in tyres, shock mounts, seals, isolators, couplings, bridge bearings, building bearings, footwear, hose, conveyor belts, plant linings and many other moulding applications. [Pg.86]

Wire and cable applications and extrusion profiles, e.g., window seals and car door seals, probably form the major applications for EPM and EPDM rubber, although they are also used in a wide variety of other extrusion and moulding applications. Washing machine door seals moulded from EPDM are starting to replace NR as washer/dryers are becoming more common. [Pg.99]

For applications requiring two different compounds, such as a double hardness sealing ring or a two colour rubber shoe sole, some machines have two injection units. One injects into the bottom/centre mould plate and the other into the parting line. Two injection units on a singlestation vertical press are used in combination with twin rotating cavity plates. [Pg.191]

Many gums and resins that ooze out of the trees also behave like plastic. Sealing Wax when warmed becomes plastic can be impressed with a seal. Glass and clay are also plastic material of mineral origin. By early nineteenth century, man had learned to mould many articles from natural gums and resins and make protective films of varnish from Shellac. [Pg.38]

There is also a growing interest in the association of elastic polymers, which assume sealing or damping functionalities, with rigid plastics or composites that have the structural role. One of the materials can be overmoulded on the other or the two materials can be co-moulded. [Pg.19]

Airtight boxes with integrated TPV seal (bi-injection moulding of PP and PP/ EPDM-V)... [Pg.59]
