Mossbauer compounds

Mosshauer effect The resonance fluorescence by y-radiation of an atomic nucleus, returning from an excited state to the ground state. The resonance energy is characteristic of the chemical environment of the nucleus and Mossbauer spectroscopy may be used to yield information about this chemical environment. Used particularly in the study of Fe. Sn and Sb compounds. [Pg.266]

About 1000 papers are published annually on organotin chemistry, and we have been able to include only 5% of these. We have deliberately avoided treating in depth those aspects of the subject that have been thoroughly reviewed recently, and, in particular, we have avoided duplicating the excellent surveys of the use of organotin compounds in organic synthesis (4), of " "Sn Mossbauer spectroscopy (5-9), and of Sn NMR spectroscopy (10-12) that are available. [Pg.2]

With trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, all four vinyl groups are displaced at - 78°, to give a compound that was shown by Mossbauer spectroscopy to contain both Sn(II) and Sn(IV), and that was assigned the formula Sn [Sn (S03CF3)6]. Trivinyltin carboxylates have also been prepared from the reaction between tet avinyltin and mercury(I) carboxylates, which may be generated electrochemically in situ (185). [Pg.16]

The Mossbauer spectrum of the rearranged compound corresponds with that of a Sn(IV) compound, and the most probable structure appears to be that of a chlorine-bridged dimer. [Pg.23]

For example, octahedral quadrupole splitting observed for the cis-octahedral analogs 7,8). More recently, temperature-dependent Mossbauer measurements have been used in conjunction with Raman spectroscopy to determine molecular weights 453) and lattice rigidity 460) of various organotin compounds. [Pg.40]

Attempts to elucidate the bonding have concentrated mainly on graphite-FeCla- This intercalate is especially suitable as a model compound, because the magnetic and Mossbauer properties of the iron nucleus constitute excellent probes for electronic structure and environment of the latter. [Pg.307]

The Sn Mossbauer data for Sn7S2Brio, Sn4SeBr, and Sn4TeBr, have been measured, and compared with those of the parent halides and chalcogenides. The data are consistent with a random distribution of halide and chalcogenide anions (104). Thus far, the reflection spectra of a few tin(IV) compounds assumed to be semiconductors have... [Pg.395]
