Morinda citrifolia, extraction

Damnacanthol-3-0-(3-D-primeveroside (203) and lucidin 3-0-P-D-primeveroside (204), two anthraquinone isolates from -butanol soluble phase of the methanol extract of Morinda citrifolia L. (family Rubiaceae) roots, were evaluated to demonstrate a significant reduction of the blood glucose levels (p < 0.05) at 5 h after oral administration (100 mg/kg/body-weight). ... [Pg.576]

Some studies have shown that MAE may be superior to other extraction methods. Total phenolics and antioxidant activity were found to be higher in spice samples extracted by MAE than by UAE (Gallo et ah, 2010). In extracting anthraquinones from Morinda citrifolia, commonly known as noni, optimized MAE conditions were found to be 80% ethanol, 60 °C extraction temperature, and 30 min extraction time. MAE was shown to require less extraction time while achieving higher yields when compared to Soxhlet, maceration and UAE methods (Hemwimon et ah, 2007). [Pg.37]

Morinda citrifolia (Rubiaceae) Roots Malaria and diabetes Aqueous decoction or maceration of fresh plant or dried plant materials is used. Also dried plant materials are extracted with alcoholic beverages and used. [Pg.198]

In a model of oxidative damage of human red blood cells initiated by cumene hydroperoxide, Gawlik and Czajka" showed that white tea extracts at a level of 4 g/150 ml water significantly decreased the formation of the oxidation product, malo-ndialdehyde. White tea extract also showed a superior reducing activity compared to other plant extracts, such as wheat sprouts, Morinda citrifolia, and fermented papaya. ... [Pg.27]

Anthragallol-1,2-dimethyl ether is extracted from the roots of Oldenlandia umbellata L., the bark of Coprosma lucida Forst., C. acerosa A. Cuim., the root-bark of C. rhamnoidesA. Cunn. and the roots of Morinda citrifolia L. and all other Rubia species. [Pg.15]
