Mono sodium hypochlorite

Hydroxy- 6-diazoandrost-5-en- l-one (96) To a stirred solution of 750 ml of methanol and 144 ml of 5 A sodium hydroxide is added 36 g (0.114 mole) of oximino ketone. Concentrated aqueous ammonia (56.6 ml, 0.850 mole) is then added followed by dropwise addition of 265 ml of cold 3 M sodium hypochlorite at a rate sufficient to maintain the temperature of the exothermic reaction mixture at 20 + 1° while cooling with an external ice bath. At temperatures below 20° appreciable amounts of a-mono- and a-dichloro ketones are obtained above 20° the chloramine decomposes before reacting with the oximino ketone. As soon as all of the sodium hypochlorite has been added, the ice bath is removed and the reaction mixture is allowed to warm to room temperature with continued stirring for 6 hr. The reaction mixture is diluted with an equal volume of water and extracted twice with... [Pg.443]

Primary aliphatic or aromatic amines react with calcium (or sodium) hypochlorite to form A-mono- or di-chloroamines which are explosively unstable, but less so than nitrogen trichloride. [Pg.1319]

Aniline may be made (I) hy Ihe reduction, with iron or tin in HOI, of nitrobenzene, and (2) by the amination of chlorobenzene by healing with ammonia to a high temperature corresponding to a pressure of over 200 atmospheres in the presence of a catalyst (a mixture of cuprous chloride and oxide). Aniline is the end-point of reduction of most mono-nitrogen substituted benzene nuclei, as nitrosobenzene, beta-phenylhydroxylamine. azoxybenzene, azobenzene, hydrazobenzene. Aniline is detected by the violet coloration produced by a small amount of sodium hypochlorite. [Pg.101]

N-Halogenated amines can be prepared in excellent yields by treating the amine with sodium hypochlorite in ethereal solution, the mono- or... [Pg.503]

Many people mix cleaners to their peril. Mixing of bleach (sodium hypochlorite) with ammonia results in the generation of mono-, di-, and tri-chloramines, as shown in Fig. 11.1. [Pg.162]

ACID AMMONIUM CARBONATE or ACID AMMONIUM CARBONATE, MONO AMMONIUM SALT (1066-33-7) CHjOj HjN NH4HCO3 Noncomustible solid (Fire Rating 1). Violent reaction with strong acids, forming carbon dioxide. Reacts with strong bases, forming ammonia. In temperatures above 140°F/49°C, ammonia and carbon dioxide fumes are formed. Reacts with fluorine, magnesium, sodium hypochlorite. [Pg.24]

From the southern industrial zone of Pancevo, through the wastewater canal, the Danube was loaded with large amounts of toxic materials 2001 of anunonia, 1,000 t of 1,2-dichlorethane (DCE), 70 t of 33% hydrochloric acid, 0.2 t of mercury, 401 of sodium hypochlorite and 851 of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Around 621 of crude oil and other derivatives burned for the most part or leaked into the canal (37,7001 of crude oil, 6,2001 of different types of petrol, 3501 of diesel fuel, 7,4801 of heating oil, 6,600 t of heavy vacuum oil, about 230 t of liquid petroleum gas, 80 t of benzene, 1,2001 of kerosene and 1,9001 of other derivatives and unspecified products mixed with several tenth tones of substances for fire extinction). After the bombing, undetermined amounts of ammonium nitrate and mono ammonium phosphate... [Pg.257]
