Medicare Part D The component of Medicare that covers prescription drugs through voluntary enrollment in one of several plans and saves members money on drug purchases. [Pg.127]

PBMs are also characterized by a series of relationships among many stakeholders payers, providers, consumers, and pharmaceutical companies. Payers include employers, employer coalitions, insurers, managed care organizations, Medicare, and Medicaid. Typically, they pay the net prescription cost and a per claim or transaction fee to the PBM for claim processing. The potential shift of some medical costs to those not involved in an accident means that individual demand for traffic safety tends to be too low.
