Moisture limit for

Coalescing. Sand towers or cartridge-type coalescers may be used to separate any undissolved water from the LPG. Removal of the undissolved water meets the specification moisture limit for butanes. However, this step does not produce specification propane. [Pg.185]

Figure 19 shows the condensation temperatures for three lots of a-interferon with residual moisture values near 1.0% (Table 2), which are within the moisture limit for the product (3.0%). The condensation temperatures are very low... [Pg.222]

It is not known how the liquid limit for soils compares with the flow moisture limit for coal and minerals it seems that there would be some merit in bringing the two together and comparing their values for different materials. [Pg.32]

FIGURE 2.9 Midwest com stover harvested in 2009 exceeded moisture limits for stable bale storage, while in 2010 nearly aU harvested biomass could be stored stable in conventional stacks. [Pg.39]

Safety. Chlorosulfuric acid is a strong acid and the principal ha2ard is severe chemical bums when the acid comes into contact with body tissue. The vapor is also ha2ardous and extremely irritating to the skin, eyes, nose, and respiratory tract. Exposure limits for chlorosulfuric acid have not been estabhshed by OSHA or ACGIH. However, chlorosulfuric acid fumes react readily with moisture in the air to form hydrochloric and sulfuric acid mists, which do have estabhshed limits. The OSHA 8-h TWA limits and ACGIH TLV—TWA limits are sulfuric acid = 1 mg/m hydrochloric acid = 5 ppm or 7 mg/m (ceiling limit). [Pg.87]

Equilibrium moisture content of a solid is particularly important in drying because it represents the limiting moisture content for given conditions of humidity and temperature. If the material is dried to a moisture content less than it normally possesses in equilibrium with atmospheric air, it will return to its equilibrium value on storage unless special precautions are taken. [Pg.1182]

Figure 4.41. Trend analysis over 12 batches of a bulk chemical. The sieve analysis shows that over time crystals larger than 250 /urn were reduced from a weight contribution in the range of a few percent of the total to about 1% in favor of smaller sizes. Impurity C appears to follow the trend given by the lead compound for the competing side reaction 1. The very low moisture found for sample 3 could be due to a laboratory error because during drying one would expect ethanol to be driven off before water. Methanol is always below the detection limit. Silica Gel. Silica gel is a polar adsorbent, its surface containing hydroxyl groups. Thus polar substances have a strong attraction toward silica gel. Since water is highly polar, silica gel retains atmospheric moisture, sometimes preferentially over other substances. This affinity for moisture limits the use of silica gel, although in a dry environment it would be an excellent sorbent. The compounds for which our laboratories have validated methods using silica gel as a collection medium are listed below ... [Pg.186]

The defined range suitable for acceptable stability may approach the variability of the moisture determination method or may be as great as a few percent. For example, many lyophilized products with the USP have a finished product residual moisture specification of less than 2% of dry weight. Other products, such as amphotericin B, have a residual moisture limit of 8.0% [31]. Whether the allowable residual moisture specification is small or large, a range of acceptable residual moisture needs to be identified and correlated to suitable long-term stability. [Pg.360]

ASTA recommends a moisture limit of 10% in the whole spice. Ash and acid-insoluble ash should be no greater than 6 and 1%, respectively. Tables 18.6 and 18.7 show the chemical and physical specifications for the whole and ground spice, including the FDA DALs for the whole spice. [Pg.338]
