Modified Devices

GaAs has been coated with thiols with a view to modifying devices [123]. For these films, S-As bonds are presumed to be present. An ordering of the chains for = 18 has been reported. However, this system has generally been much less investigated than those involving metal substrates. 

Aguiar and Weiner [13] developed a modified device in which the receptor cell allows for continuous flow of receptor solvent, which maintains sink conditions. Flynn and Smith [14] designed and evaluated a unique device having a high ratio of diffusional area to diffusional volume and precisely controlled stirring. 

These diagrams imply by the choice of a single energy axis that all forms of energy are equivalent where, in practice, they are not. When we supply energy in different forms in our national energy system we have to have new or modified devices to use that energy. 

Even compared to a device with PEDOT PSS (HOMO 5.2 eV) as HTL, the SAM-modified device exhibited higher maximum brightness by a factor of three, and a comparable efficiency.

Lazar et al., 1999 Mueller et al., 1999). Hydrophilic coatings have also been placed on balloon catheters, with recent results showing a 72 percent reduction in ischemic vascular complications when modified devices are used (Winters et al., 1999). Antibiotic coatings for indwelling catheters could be used to coat intra-aortic balloons if such treatment is proven to be efficacious.

Data to show consequences and effects of a modified device, performance data (bench, animal, clinical). 

Depending on the complexity of the new or modified medical device, the FDA review of a 510(k) submission takes from 20 to 90+ days. The review process lasts longer if complex changes or comparisons are required to support the safety and effectiveness of the new or modified device.
