Mixing Primary Pigments

Students will learn the proper procedure for mixing secondary colors from primary pigments. [Pg.33]

Pigments, dyes, and extenders are incorporated in binders to obtain decorative effects (e.g., color, gloss, dulling) or functional effects (e.g., corrosion protection) on a surface coating. For optimization of these effects the colorants must be mixed in a suitable manner and in appropriate amounts with the relevant binder. The distribution of the primary pigment particles in the polymer matrix should be as uniform as possible. [Pg.143]

Performance Just as reactants combine in certain proportions to form a product, colors can be combined to create other colors. Artists do this all the time to find just the right color for their paintings. Using poster paint, determine the proportions of primary pigments used to create the following colors. Your proportions should be such that anyone could mix the color perfectly. [Pg.308]

Subtractive colour mixing is used for dyes and pigments where the primary colours are red, yellow and blue. [Pg.389]

Precisely equal amounts of pure pigment primary colors must be mixed to achieve a true black. [Pg.83]

In the premix process, all additives are premixed in a mixer and then fed to the twin screw extruder at the primary intake stage via a volumetric feeder. A portion of the polymer is generally mixed with the pigments in powder form to achieve a better pre-distribution of the pigment (see Fig. 4.31). [Pg.80]
